Yorkshire Terrier Dog Lover Gifts
The Yorkshire Terrier, or Yorkie as it is nicknamed, is a member of the AKC (American Kennel Club) Toy group. This is a long haired terrier who has a distinctive blue and tan coat. According to registrations, this is the second most common dog in the United States in both 2006 and 2007, trailing closely behind the number one dog, the Labrador Retriever. The Yorkie originated in Northern England, in Yorkshire, originally bred to kill mice and rats. It was introduced to the United States in 1872 and became a popular pet in the Victorian Era. The Yorkie is described as playful with a certain boldness for a small dog. These dogs are also intelligent and independent. They make a loving pet and companion. |
